At age 39 I was not in good condition. I decided to begin a running program. I bought running shoes and hit the street in front of my house. To my surprise ny the time I ran from my starting point, the telephone pole in front of my house, to the telephone pole in front of my next door neighbor’s house, I had to stop. Everything hurt. I could write a book on what followed. I’ll summarize. Now I’m 83. First, I was challenged by my initial “failure”. Surprised yes, but not defeated, I just needed to get in shape, I thought. I ran every day except for during thunderstorms. I ran my first 10 K three months later. I ran through the winter with a face mask when the temperature went below 20 degrees F. One year after my “failure” I had lost 30 pounds. Since then I have almost always been in some kind of fitness program. In a gym or outside. OK . . . my knees wore out after twenty years of 1,000 miles running each year. Since then most of the time I have been working out in a gym with equipment designed to be safe but good exercise. My primary physician has supported my exercise programs, although she would prefer to see me swimming to be fit and I think she is right. She and my fitness programs have seen me through some serious health issues by diagnosing early and seeing that II have the best specialists to address the problems that are in my past. I have been most fortunate in my life I know. I also know that great doctors, exercise, body weight control and avoiding abuse of drugs an alcohol are essential to being as well as you can be. I am now the oldest person at my gym now.

Meet Janet A. Robertson, MD

My goal as your personal physician is to provide you with high quality, personalized healthcare to effectively diagnose and treat current health issues and establish long-term wellness strategies. I believe that medicine is an art and a science. In a traditional physical diagnosis, a hands-on and ears open approach to a patient’s personal history is key, as well as fully utilizing the cutting-edge tools of diagnosis and treatment available to us today.

Practicing good medicine requires a partnership between doctor and patient, based upon mutual trust and respect. This relationship is built on, and nurtured by, individual attention, since no two people are the same. I am dedicated to achieving this goal by devoting the necessary time to listen and to answer your individual concerns and questions in a stress-free and welcoming environment. As an MDVIP-affiliated primary care physician, I will be uniquely positioned with ample time to further develop these essential relationships.

I am board-certified in Internal Medicine, with particular interests in cardiovascular health, diabetes, integrative medicine and preventive medicine. I have been providing primary care to Morris and Somerset Counties for 25 years, serving Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Far Hills, Bedminster, Morristown and other nearby communities. I am an attending physician at Morristown Medical Center and have long-standing professional relationships with the area’s medical specialists.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

I recently had a problem with c-diff and was in the hospital and not feeling in the best mood, when Dr. Robertson came into the room I was so surprised to see her and she made me feel so much better just by being there and being concerned about me.
