Remain Calm and Don't Panic

The moment Dr. Casey told me that I had a lesion on my right hip/femur area, I was in complete shock and denial. There were no indications of a problem like that, and I had gone there for a persistent muscular problem. After I called my wife, the very next call was to Dr. Murphy. She assured me that further tests were needed to confirm that and since I was otherwise healthy, there were other possibilities for what the radiologist had concluded. I went from panic to being able to breathe and start thinking again. Dr. Murphy steadfastly encouraged me, shepherded me to further tests both locally and at UNC that have shown whatever was on the original image was benign. This is typical Leslie Murphy. She is there for her patients despite enduring her own journey with cancer. She is selfless and caring--the best physician care anyone could imagine.
