Over two years ago I noticed pelvic pressure, then a month latter felt lump and went to see my my GP. He examined me but couldn't find anything but quickly sent me to bladder Dr.., OBGYN, then two Cat scans, 2 MRIs, colonoscopy, finally a proctologist that he thought could look at my tests and data and identify problem after reading all my tests and symptoms. She said it was not her field, but if she had to guess what was wrong with me thought I had a prolapse. All previous exams and tests came back as normal. Thank goodness for her! When I looked up the word prolapse I found my symptoms matched perfectly. Up to then no one had a clue. Then the wait began of months to see people in women's healthcare. One told me" I absolutely did not have a prolapse." and suggested pain management . Another told me my choice was Monia Lisa Touch (MLT) or a complete hysterectomy with long recovery..
I did the MLT and asked if my prolapse had improved at second treatment, "no MLT wouldn't help that." Lastly, I had LeFort Colpocleisis surgery for Vagina, sling for bladder and colon Oct. 2023. It seems that surgery was not a success and my wonderful GP has recommended I see specialist at Stanford. The reason I'm filling out the survey is that if I had heart condition or cancer etc. there would be excellent MDVIP sources or specialists. I don't expect my GP to be an expert on women's health issues but it would help to have a woman's specialist/expert surgeon at a hospital near by that MDVIP was affiliated with. Lack there of has cost me two years trying to get the problem fixed and at this point I am not sure a good outcome will be possible until I go to Stanford in CA.
