Before I retired, I was an active spinal surgeon in Columbia. I handled the very most complex patients in our region who had scoliosis, or other problems, related to their spinal column. For the 16 years I was in private practice here, Dr. Delwood was my only internal medicine consultant. He evaluated every one of my patients before their surgery to make certain they could withstand and benefit from the surgical procedure I thought could help them. Many of the patients had to return to the OR two or even three times to correct their problem.
