Spenser Reed, MD

Meet Spenser Reed, MD

Medicine has been at the center of my life and quickly became a fascination ever since I was a young child navigating a complex chronic disease. It was a natural extension that I was drawn to primary care because of the meaningful relationships I am now honored to build with my patients and the ability to help provide life-changing care across the lifespan. Today’s approach to healthcare too often focuses on quantity over quality which can neglect to appreciate the individualism innate to every patient that contributes to health and disease. It is my belief that the most fundamental role as your physician is to devote as much time as needed to understand your health and wellness goals so we can better reach your optimal health, together. Being an MDVIP-affiliated doctor helps me achieve this, as it allows for close doctor-patient relationships to be built, along with time to help identify and address aspects that contribute to your health (for example, what you eat, how much you exercise, how you cope with stress, understanding your unique metabolism and genetics), and to be present for you if you become ill or need me urgently.

I practice full spectrum primary care with an emphasis on the management (and often possible reversal!) of chronic medical conditions using exercise therapy, clinical nutrition, advanced laboratory diagnostic testing and medications when appropriate. I offer many office-based services, including gynecologic, minor surgical, dermatologic and orthopedic procedures and management of many urgent medical problems. I also provide house calls as necessary.

I have pursued advanced training in integrative medicine, as I recognize that blending allopathic and evidence-based non-allopathic modalities can often help produce improved health outcomes. I am also passionate about nutrition, and with my clinical research background, I regularly serve as an invited Peer Reviewer for several medical nutrition journals. I respect that medicine is indeed a practice and is always evolving, and therefore routinely participate in a wide variety of continuing education beyond what is necessary so that I can offer you the personalized care you deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

The Listener

Dr. Spencer Reed of Park City seems to have a special knack for listening. When I first met him at the introduction appointment, I did all the talking. He was very quiet. Then about a week later when I saw him he responded with most of my concerns and offered suggestions .This is a true gift. He also responds when I email, even late at night . I have a sincere respect for his professionalism. Read more...

Going Above and Beyond

from Sheree in UT • January 22, 2024
I have a new physician here in Park City, Utah. His name is Dr. Spenser Reed. I've only met him and known him since June of 2023. I am also an RN. Having my annual physical in June 2023 with Dr. Reed was exciting as he was new, yet at the same time was sad to miss my previous physician, Dr. Kim Scott. Fast forward to August, September and October of 2023. I began experiencing unusual muscle Read more...

Outstanding Practice and People

from Timothy in UT • January 20, 2024

Dr. Reed and his nursing and admin staff went above and beyond in my unexpected journey battling heart issues. Upon discovering AFIB, PVC and PAC incidences, they immediately ordered Holter monitoring, EKGs, ECHOS, stress tests, and appointments for Electrophysiology. In today’s healthcare environment, scheduling any of these in a timely way is certainly a challenge. But Dr. Reed and his staff Read more...

Moved but still connected

from Sam and Kay in UT • January 19, 2024
In October, 2023 my husband and I had sold our house in Park City and moved to a house we built in Mesquite, NV. We were not sure how we were going to deal with our MDVIP doctor in Park City, but we were unwilling to just leave. As it turned out, the day after we moved into the house, I noticed my husband's leg looked swollen. I took a photo of it with my cellphone and sent it to Dr. Spenser Read more...
